ERNESTINE TAHEDL

Ernestine Tahedl was born and educated in Austria and received a master’s degree in graphic arts in Vienna. She immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1963. Participating regularly in group and traveling shows, she also won acclaim with solo exhibitions in Austria, France, the U.S.A. and Canada. Her awards include the Graduation Prize of the Austrian Government 1961, the Allied Arts Medal of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada 1966, a Purchase Award Concours Artistique du Quebec 1966 and a Canada Council Arts Award 1967. She was elected a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1977. Her selected corporate collections include: Gulf Oil, Bell Canada, Royal Bank, Imperial Life, Reader’s Digest, Esso, Maclean Hunter,Bank of Montreal, and the Government of Ontario Art Collection.
